Earth Day 2001 at Ricoh Canada
Ricoh Canada observed "Earth Day" on Sunday, April 20, 2001 and throughout the following week by participating in tree plantings, riverbed clean-ups, waste collections and other environmentally friendly events.
Ricoh Canada employees responded to a challenge extended to all local businesses by the City of Mississauga. The city asked all of its businesses to adopt a piece of land nearby and clean it up in observance of Earth Day. The city provided free garbage bags, donated by the Glad Bag people, whose Canadian Head Office is located in Mississauga. The employees at the Ricoh Warehouse and Distribution Centre in the City of Mississauga undertook a clean up of their property and the adjacent property. In less than one hour more than 25 employees collected over 20 large garbage bags of trash. Rather than using the free bags supplied by the city, they used large plastic pallet bags from the Ricoh Warehouse
